THE BRIEF

What they needed

Outbound Design needed a brand identity that could carry the whole business, from a client-facing website to project decks and social posts. The name pointed to sailing and travel, so the mark had to reflect that without leaning too hard into cliché nautical imagery.

It also needed to feel personal and handmade, since Outbound is a solo freelance studio for sports and outdoor recreation clients, not a big impersonal agency. Beyond the logo, the brand needed a full system: colors, type, and a photo direction that could hold up across platforms.

THE WORK

How I built it

I started in Illustrator, sketching logo concepts around anchor and sailboat motifs before landing on a hand-drawn “O” that doubles as a wave, paired with a clean upward arrow.

From there, I built out the full identity in Canva: a stacked logo, custom line-art icons, and a five-color palette pairing warm neutrals with navy, green, and rust accents. I paired Poppins for headings with Inter for body copy, then finished with a photo guide pulling from real outdoor and sports moments to keep future content on-brand.
